Effective Parenting – Topics include child safety, appropriate discipline, effective communication, child development, family conflict, how to deal with a difficult child, etc.  Participants will be introduced to skills that will contribute to building a healthy family.  

Healthy Relationships – Topics include effective communication, problem-solving, family conflict, etc.  Participants will be introduced to skills and tools to build a strong and healthy relationship.  Domestic violence education is also offered during this class.

Conflict Resolution – Topics include anger triggers, healthy expression of emotions, problem-solving, etc.  Participants will be presented with tools and techniques to identify anger triggers, illustrate a healthy display of emotions and to resolve the conflict.

Workplace Essentials/Soft Skills – Topics include skills that promote good work ethic such as professional communication, goal setting, social skills, and effective coping skills, as well as resume building, dress for success and interview preparation.  Participants will receive information to help them build positive self-esteem, and learn coping skills to deal with everyday life and work situations.  

Life Skills – Practical, module-based lessons for relationships, financial literacy, time management, nutrition, and health. Multiple sessions.

Cooperative Parenting: Children in the Middle – The Co-Parenting class covers a wide variety of topics that include anger management, conflict management, effective communication, how divorce affects your children, how to facilitate open conversation with your children, and how to maintain a healthy relationship with your co-parent.

Responsible Fatherhood – Classes tailor-made just for dads providing innovative strategies that encourage and strengthen fathers and families.

Domestic Violence – Domestic violence is an issue that affects not only the immediate family but also the community. We provide counseling, support groups, and case management for the intervention and treatment of victims of domestic violence.  Domestic violence support group is the last Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Tupelo campus.

Positive Youth Development – Positive youth development classes consist of topics such as positive self-esteem, healthy decision making, suicide prevention, bullying prevention, dating violence prevention and character development.  

 

10 Hours required for a certificate

*Classes are offered to support the entire family and assist with everyday needs. Each participant will have an interview with a field educator to discuss concerns and an individualized plan will be tailored to fit their needs. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of 10 hours of classes.
